Although the doctors, nurses and staff here are competent, many of the areas are dirty and unkempt. During my last two appointments, there were pulled stitches on the floor of one room and used paper towels on the floor of another. None of this was near a trash can. Yes, the medical care is the most important and it is pretty good compared to other VA facilities. However, walking into a dirty room doesn't instill much confidence in the people providing the care.
Couldn't get my meds refilled couldn't get an appointment to see my doctor, when I finally got an appointment the doctor was a no show waited an hour and the doc never showed up and no one knew where the doc was. This place does not care about it's vets.
I came here three years ago when I had nothing. The people here have helped change my life in so many ways.
It's very disappointing to deal with an agency that seems unconcerned about the poor quality of life that elderly veterans suffering dementia have when they don't have advocates. Unless an VA knowledgeable advocate attends appointments with a veteran, the latter's needs are not addressed. Nobody offers to direct the veteran to services that could improve the veteran's quality of life. It's like the VA promotes its wonderful array of services on its website but then only offers the services if requested by the veteran. That's difficult for a veteran to do if he or she is unable to deal with life.
