Dr Matt and the staff at Pleasant Valley are professionals and extremely caring people, you could not make a better choice for someone to care for your pets
Dr. Matt is amazing with my two dogs. My beagle-dachshund mix had swallowed a sewing needle, (yes, she'll eat anything) and because it was on a weekend, we were told we had to take her to State College to the animal hospital there. I told Dr. Matt that we wouldn't be able to take her there, because not only was it too expensive, but our car was unable to make the drive to S.C. So Dr. Matt and his dad called their wives to tell them that they would have to miss a family picnic and did the emergency surgery on my dog on a Sunday afternoon. I will forever be grateful to them (even if their wives may not be as thankful) for doing the surgery. The doctor said that if the needle had punctured her intestine, it would certainly have killed her. My second dog had a bad flea infestation even though we had been regularly using over-the-counter flea medications. Her fur was falling out, and she was biting and scratching all the time. It turned out that she had been having a terrible reaction to the flea saliva, as many dogs do, and Dr. Stachmus diagnosed her right away and put her on steroids and a better oral flea medication and she was as good as new in no time. We wouldn't take our dogs anywhere else. It's true that sometimes the front end staff can be a little bit gruff (rude, if you must), but don't let that sway your decision to take your animals to a great, caring doctor who treats your pets like they're his own!
Quick, very friendly, careful, knowledgeable, appointments and walk in's. The care doesn't stop at your furry kid.
Long time client. All of our pets come here. Our most recent addition, Kole, was just neutered and recovered excellent. Jen, Dr Matt and Staff are all great and very knowledgeable. Prices are good. Never had a hard time getting an appointment for something urgent. Always diagnosed properly with appropriate medicine and antibiotics if needed. Thanks guys!
This place is probably sick of me, but yet they remain patient. I am not rich, and I probably have more animals than I should have taken on, but I won't let that stop them from getting the treatment that they need. I just have to be "cheap". I think that everywhere that you go to is going to have at least one bad story or complaint. No one is perfect. I actually had a minor issue here myself with a mistake made, but Dr. Matt immediately rectified it, and above all... he made sure that my dog got the care that he needed asap. (nothing major). He has had to do an emergency surgery, and being our financial situation, he helped cut us a break, he talked me through supplies we would need, etc. (He had to clean and stitch my dogs paw pad and by the way, you cant even tell which paw was done because the job was done so perfect.) He is friendly, easy to understand, and knows what he is doing. I'm not sure how anyone could say that they are uncaring because, when I was diagnosed with cancer, he took time to even say a prayer with me after I had a little bit of an emotional break down when my dog had a tick and I feared Lyme disease instantly. He doesn't know me personally, there was no reason to show concern for my personal health, other than to just be a good human being. Last week, i noticed my cat looked thinner. Immediately I called and was told "sure, come check her weight on the scale so that we can see the difference from her yearly check up, no problem". Turns out she has diabetes. I don't have a bad thing to say about them. I like having a vet who is actually IN the office when my animal needs.
I have since gotten another dog I rescued from the Humane Society and took him to Dr Matt as he had a ear infection.
I have used Pleasant Valley Animal Hospital for years Dr Matt and the staff are the best. On July 4, 2014 my dog Rocky started having seizures in the early morning hours I contacted Dr Matt and even though his office was closed for the holiday he met me and gave me medicine to keep him calm over the weekend until he could run some tests to make sure he was in good enough health to be put on seizure medication and he was and I was fortunate enough to have him in my life for another 10 months at which time he developed other medical problems and he was suffering and I had to make the decision to not let him suffer any longer. They gave us a room to say our goodbyes and told me to take all the time I needed and once he had passed and I said my goodbyes they knew how upset I was they offered to drive me home, I felt I was okay to drive myself but had to call and let them know I made it home okay.
